Flags as a background often work really well, as they are often made up of simple blocks of colour and are usually very recognisable. This is a much better idea than using the map of the country as a background with work over the top, as it can look very busy. A small map in the middle with work around the edge is much more attractive. If there is an emblem on the flag such as the shield on the above example, it looks impressive to make this 3-D by making it separately, then stapling it so that it protrudes. |
This is a different approach to the same theme. The title has been made in Publisher using wordart, then filling with a picture of the flag I found from the internet. The idea is that this is a sihouetted sunset scene (it has become a little faded as I used sugar paper). I simply tore varying tones of paper for the sunset. To create the shadows, I printed off various animals and laminated them, these were then drawn around onto black paper. I was then able to make the display interactive by asking children to guess what the shadows were of, then after some time I added the original animals to allow the children to match the animal to it's shadow, seeing if they were correct. |
